An exciting day

Ok, everyone will realize how absolutely bored we are here when you read what we consider to be an exciting day!! Let's see, Amy went out to the little convienent store across the street to see what is available there from a food perspective. We've been having issues with cooking here at the apartment. The types of things we would normally cook at home just don't seem to be available. We haven't taken the plunge and bought any meat yet, Amy is a little freaked out that it is just sitting out in the open air on tables. So our meals haven't been the best so far. Anyway, back to Amy's shopping adventure. First off this store is nice in that it is much more like a store we would have at home. You go in, take the items you want off the shelf and walk to the cashier and pay for them. Most stores here, you go to the counter, attempt to communicate to the person working what you want, this includes hand signals, pointing, talking very slowly and loudly in English, pointing to words in our Russian phrase book, etc. Everything is behind the counter. They get it for you and you pay for it. Anyway, so Amy went over the the M1 store and low and behold she found frozen pizza!!!!!!! I'll say that again in case you didn't catch what I said, FROZEN PIZZA!!!!! Amy has been craving pizza and we were told they don't really have pizza here. We haven't tried it yet but I think it could taste like cardboard and we would be psyched, since all frozen pizza pretty much tastes like cardboard, that is what I'm expecting. So that was very exciting.

Exciting point number 2, we are going out to dinner tonight, so we won't have to eat cardboard fixed up to look like pizza. Inna has arranged a babysitter for us and she is meeting us here at 6:00 and we are going over to the place where they cook shishkabobs outside on a grill.

Excitement to the third power, we got Megan to eat pears from a spoon. It took a bit, I think she was actually afraid of the spoon at first, she wouldn't take it. We tried a little yesterday with very little success. Today after trying again she actually started opening her mouth when the spoon got there. She even seemed to like the pears. We didn't give too much, I'm afraid we'll overload her with pears and then she'll be overloading her diaper. So we'll try some more tomorrow and make sure she is handling it before we go too far.

Anyway, that's about it for now. Here are a few pics of today, Amy and Megan are both napping right now, if we take more pictures later maybe we'll add a few more.

LMAO! I'm glad you found PIZZA! Can you get "takeout" from the restaurants you have gone to? The things we take for granted... pizza shops at almost EVERY corner! Between Pizza and Starbucks... I hope you guys are taking video too... i can't wait to talk to you guys in person to get even more details of your trip.

Steve,
You look like such a natural feeding Megan!!! She is soooooo.....cute! When do you get to come home to the U.S.? I think I too, would refrain from purchasing the meat product! I have to also say, just from reading your email I can hear your sense of humor coming through. Isn't it funny you can communicate from around the globe to everyone, yet somehow can't get the food you want! hummmmm. I hope you and Amy enjoy (enjoyed) your night out. Take care Michele.
