It's Official!

Megan Caroline Woodward officially became our daughter at about 3:30PM! It was over surprisingly fast, we went back to the courthouse at 2:30, waited until about 3:25 to be finally called back into the Judge's office, she read the decision which was to grant the adoption. I was slightly dumbfounded because it happened so quick. Next Patty went in for her case to be heard. It sounds like she had a slightly more difficult time, the Judge asked her several additional questions but her adoption was also granted.

We left the courthouse, went back to the apartment changed our clothes, grabbed some clothes for Megan, grabbed the gifts for the nurses at the hospital and headed off to pick up the babies. We got there and Megan was crying in her crib, her diaper was soaked so we changed her quick, put her in her humongous snowsuit which Kelly left here because it was too big for Grace, Kelly was the one staying in the apartment we are in now when we arrived. Thanks Kelly!!! As we left the nurses were crying and saying goodbye to her, it was really sweet. I'm not sure if we mentioned this before but one of the reasons we decided to come to Kazakhstan to adopt is because the nurses and caregivers in the orphanages here, really care for the children and take very good care of them.

We are trying to get Megan adjusted to life on the outside. She seems to enjoy laying on the floor rolling over from her back to her stomach playing with her toys. She really hasn't had a lot of freedom to roll around on the floor. She seems a little nervous and out of sorts, today was a really big change for her. I'm sure it will take a few days for her to get accustomed to us and her new surroundings.

Well, here are today's pictures:

Look I've got my own wheels now!!

Woody & Amy,

Congratulations! I am so happy for both of you as well as Megan. One of the first things I do when I get to work in the morning is to read your blog. This was the best post by far. Thanks for letting all of us share in your excitement. I can already tell by the pictures that Megan is becoming more comfortable with you. She seems to be smiling a lot more in her recent pictures. Looking forward to seeing her in person.

Early wishes for a Happy New Year!

Sue

Ok... I am crying! (No surprise, I know!) I'm SO happy for you three! Last night when Mark and I went to bed it was 11:15 and I said -- Oh .. we need to pray for Steve and Amy -- they are in court now! I'm sure you had many prayers... it's evident -- you have a BEAUTIFUL daughter! God picked two great people that she will now call Mommy and Dadddy!

Can't wait to see you guys!

Love,

Caara

Hi Amy & Steve

This is a Christmas that you'll never forget. All the fear, heartache, worrying will soon be long gone and all that will be left will be the joy and happiness of Megan in the household.

Those who have not gone through the emotional rollercoaster of adoption, will have difficulty understanding your ride. Jerri and I get together at a PC, read your notes, look at the pictures and cry. We are both so very happy for you.

Can't wait to see you all and give hugs all around. The Gernolds, Shamims, Hendersons, and the Wegners are getting together tonight. We'll have a toast in your honor at dinner to your health and a safe and speedy return home.

Love Dad

Steve and Amy,
I am so glad that Caara sent me the link to your blog. I have checked this every few hours in just these past two day....if I had known about it sooner I may have had to quit my job to keep up on this exciting roller coater ride.
You two are so amazing. I felt such a sense of relief today for you and Megan. I too was crying while reading about Megan being able to go outside, roll around on the floor and that she was "out of sorts".
Thanks for allowing us to share in this wonderful life changing event.
Looking forward to your next post. Michele Hart
