Well we survived!

I am happy to report that all three of us have survived day one with each other. I kept asking Steve if he had picked up an instruction manual yesterday from the hospital. Unfortunately he hadn't. Well overall I have to say we did okay. She ate new formula in a new bottle with no problems which was hurdle number one. Then we moved onto getting her to go to sleep for the night. After some pacing the floor with her we finally got her to go to sleep around 10:30 pm. We felt bad letting her cry to sleep as most of you experienced parents will probably tell us to do. Can you imagine all the changes that she has experienced in a couple of hours? I'm sure she was very scared and disoriented. She got up around 6:30 am, proceeded to have a bottle and then played for a while. We introduced her to America's finest invention - TV. We all watched Seinfeld and she was mesmerized by the tv. We also gave her a bath this afternoon. She didn't like it to much.

I went out to the market this afternoon for a couple of hours while Steve stayed home. The town is buzzing today in preparation of the New Year's Eve holiday. This is a big holiday here, like our Christmas is with exchanging of gifts, visiting family etc. I'm sure it will be lively outside our apartment this weekend as we are located right downtown. Hopefully Megan is a good sleeper or it could be a long night. The weather this weekend is turning frigid. I think last time Steve checked Sunday the high was going to be near -9 F low near -22 F. Glad we don't need to do anything or go anywhere.

That is all for today. Our lives will be boring for the next 2 weeks as we stay close to home. We do have a woman, Maria who will clean, babysit or cook for us. I utilized her cleaning services yesterday all for $3.75. We will use her for babysitting as soon as we get Megan on a schedule just so we can get out. We will have to pick a warm day for that. Thanks to all of your comments and emails we appreciate them!

It was great hearing your voice last night. All the grandkids are getting old - too calm. We need some young blood. Also will probably have to put an addition on the Dining room. Emily and Allie stayed over night last night. I think we got them to come because Max wasn't home and Ozzie was. Take care. Megan looks adorable.

Glad to hear that Megan likes TV. Seinfeld is good, but you really need to introduce her to some good reality shows. Hopefully you'll be back just in time for the new Bachelor and The Amazing Race. :o)

Congratulations!!!! I am so happy for you! It sounds like she's sleeping through the night, lucky for you. I can't wait to meet her. I'm not sure if you heard, but Scott and I are expecting in May. They think it's a girl, so Megan will have a little buddy. We can teach them to ski together!
Take care,
Michelle Thorpe
