Our First Real Visit!

We will visit Megan from 10:30 to 12:30 each day. Oleg and Inna will pick us up each day and take us to the Children's Hospital which is where Megan lives now. There are currently three other adopting families here in Kokshetau; Kelly (from Iowa) has almost completed the process of adopting a little girl and is leaving at the end of the week, Patty (from NYC) is adopting a little boy and Teresa and Michael (from Miami) who are adopting a little girl. It is great to have all these other Americans here for entertainment.

Megan was very interested in checking us out today. Last night we only were with her for only about a 1/2 hour so she really didn't get to meet us. Everything was a blur last night. She is really sweet and loves to be held. Of course we don't mind holding her!

After our visit we all went to lunch at the Orange Cafe. We had a great time. Luckily we have Inna with us to interpret the menu. The only word in Russian that Steve and I know is beer - "piva". Guess we will survive here with limited Russian. Beer costs about 50 cents for a very large bottle.

After lunch we went to Kelly's apartment as when she leaves on Friday we will be moving into her apartment. So we wanted to check it out. We were also able to use the internet as our hotel doesn't have access.

Dinner tonight was with the whole gang of adopting parents. We went out for dinner at the Rainbow Cafe. We had shish-kabobs which were great. They are cooked on a grill outside the restaurant. Not sure who would want the cooks job in the winter!

Jet lag is killing us. We both have been awake for a while each night. We are 11 hours ahead of Buffalo time. I wonder how long it will take to get on Kaz time.
