We are approved!

We have been formally approved by our agency (WPA). Our coordinator Lisa lives in Rochester and this is who will be guiding us through this process. We have been told that we should expect to receive a referral in about 8 months - end of October. The wait begins.

Paperwork chase begins

We will be spending the months of February and March running around collecting documents pertaining to our past. Could be scary. We have to gather many personal documents - birth certificates, marriage license, bank reference, work references, medical histories, get fingerprinted twice, have home study completed by social worker and so on and so on...... We will see how many trees we can kill in this process.

Application sent to WPA!

We have decided to use World Partners Adoptions as our adoption agency. Today we completed their application. 7 pages of paperwork down many, many more to go.......

Introduction

Hi, you're reading the blog of Amy and Steve. We live outside of Buffalo, NY and are currently in the process of adopting a baby girl from Kazakhstan. Kaz is one of the former Russian Republics.

We've created this journal to keep in touch with family and friends as we embark on this journey. Our hopes are that we will receive a referral, travel to Kaz to pick up our little girl and be back home by the end of the year. We'll see if we are able to actually accomplish this by the end of the year! Stay tuned.
